Saudi Arabia’s Ambitious New Muraba Project, announced last year The city, funded by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), continues its rapid transformation and is getting closer to becoming the largest modern city center in the world. Recent reports show significant progress has been made under Riyadh’s wider master plan, with 86% of excavation now complete. More than 10 million cubic meters of earth have been moved to build the monumental building and its surrounding podium site. In keeping with the project’s focus on sustainability, the excavation process was managed to reduce impact on local infrastructure. An important aspect of the work is the construction of a temporary bridge on King Khalid Road, which is expected to remove around 800,000 trucks from the public road, significantly reducing disruption to the surrounding area. A giant cube skyscraper rooted in immersive technology
Riyadh’s New Muraba megaproject was originally announced by His Highness Mohammed bin Salman as an initiative under Saudi Vision 2030 strategy, Led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) authorities. The destination is expected to become an iconic global destination while promoting sustainable urban development. The project covers 2 million square meters of cultural, commercial and residential space, including more than 104,000 residential units, 620,000 square meters of leisure facilities and 1.8 million square meters of community space. New Muraba builds on its vision for the future, which will create 334,000 jobs and increase the country’s non-oil GDP by SAR 180 billion (£40 billion), making Riyadh a leading global center for innovation and tourism.
The anchoring Mukaab skyscraper, whose architecture is inspired by a contemporary interpretation of Najdi design elements, will be the world’s first immersive destination, offering futuristic hotel experiences enabled by digital and virtual technologies. Internally, it will include a futuristic fusion of modern luxury, including fine dining, retail and residential living, marked by a massive, towering spiral composed of stacked organic forms. The outer atrium dome surrounding the tower will be equipped with state-of-the-art holographic technology and virtual reality screens, reflecting the surreal landscape and transporting visitors and locals into a real world. “The door to another world.”
